Behind the Beans: Weckerly’s Coffee
At Weckerly’s, we treat coffee with the same care we give our ice cream. You’ll find coffee at our Rittenhouse location that’s crafted with thought, full of flavor, and always approachable. Whether it’s a latte in the morning, an afternoon espresso, or an affogato poured over a scoop, our coffee is crafted to seamlessly fit into your day.
That’s why we partner with Brandywine Coffee Roasters when it comes to our beans. They’re a small Wilmington roastery known for their creativity, kindness, and craft. Their lighter roast profiles highlight the natural character of each bean, producing cups that are sweet, complex, and vibrant, which is a style that pairs perfectly with our desserts.
Why We Serve Brandywine
We love Brandywine because their approach to roasting makes for coffee that is vibrant, versatile, and full of personality. It’s a natural fit for our shop, where coffee is meant to be both a daily ritual and a treat to linger over.
How they roast
Their lighter roast profiles highlight the natural character of their beans, producing cups that are sweet and juicy rather than hidden under heavy roast notes. Master roaster Vic Scutari brings over 14 years of experience to each batch, roasting in small quantities on a Loring Falcon 15 kilo roaster. The process blends precision and artistry with one goal: to bring out the very best in every bean.
What to Try First
If you’re curious to taste Brandywine’s style at our shop, we recommend starting with:
For dessert:
Affogato, a double shot of espresso poured over ice cream, showing how beautifully coffee and dessert can come together.
For a weekend morning:
Harvest Latte, a white chocolate mocha with spiced pumpkin, a double shot of espresso, and your choice of milk. Cozy, seasonal, and comforting.
For something refreshing
Blood Orange Espresso Tonic, a double shot of espresso with blood orange syrup and tonic water over ice. Bright, bold, and unexpected.
